Jimenez, Ernst, and Morrow to Represent Mariners in GLSCL All-Star Game

The Grand Lake Mariners will have three representatives during the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 20th. Joe Jimenez will get playing time as one of the two shortstops to represent the GLSCL North. Marcus Ernst and Brayden Morrow will be on the team as alternates.

Joe Jimenez is a 6’3″ 185 lb. junior playing in the spring at Texas Lutheran. He is from San Antonio, Texas. He is hitting .271 this season with 19 hits in 70 at-bats. He has scored ten runs and has 12 RBIs. Six of his hits have been for extra bases – three doubles and three home runs. Jimenez had two great nights back-to-back on June 26th and 27th against the Ice Haulers and then the Clippers. He was 3-4 with a run scored, a home run, and two RBIs in each game. His third home run of the season was the most remarkable though. When the Mariners were trailing the Monarchs 3-2 on July 6th, Jimenez hit a grand slam that gave the Mariners a 6-3 lead on the way to a 9-4 win.

Marcus Ernst is a 6’0″ 195 lb. senior that plays for Ohio State. He comes from Dublin, Ohio. He is hitting at a .306 clip this summer with 33 hits in 108 at-bats. He has scored 18 runs and has 23 RBIs. He has hit four doubles and three home runs now, with 15 stolen bases. His 23 RBIs are tied for 6th in the league, and his 15 stolen bases rank him 2nd. He has gotten in scoring position and hit runners in when it matters. He has nine multi-hit games – including four hits on June 17th in a 7-3 win against the Clippers. On June 23rd, he had a walk-off single to beat the Locos 6-5, and he is currently rocking an eight-game hitting streak.

Brayden Morrow is 6’3″ and 220 lbs. He is a junior at Tulane and is from Carencro, Louisiana. In 23 games, Morrow is hitting .247 with 20 hits. Four of them have been doubles, and a couple are triples. He has scored 14 runs with six RBIs and five stolen bases. Those two triples make him tied for 7th in the league in that category. Morrow scored four runs during a win against the Leprechauns on June 13th, and he had two doubles on June 17th in a win over the Clippers. On July 1st in the first game of a doubleheader against the Graders, Morrow had the walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh that gave the Mariners a 1-0 win.
